ABOUT THE NEWSPAPERS and THEIR ORIGIN
Detroit Auto Scene is published weekly along with the Tech Center News, and is regarded as the oldest free newspaper in the United States. Having been founded by us in 1933 as the New Center News, it is a Civic Weekly newspaper that was truly ahead of its time. We’re proud of this heritage that guides our principles today.
Detroit Auto Scene covers the automotive corridor of Sterling Heights, Warren South, Center Line and Detroit. It is distributed to Chrysler locations there, and General Motors World Headquarters at the Renaissance Center.
In Auburn Hills, Detroit Auto Scene covers the auto suppliers and international companies that comprise the Oakland Technolgy Area, including Chrysler and GM Powertrain Headquarters in nearby Pontiac.
Tech Center News is the definitive newspaper of General Motors’ presence in Warren, including the General Motors Technical Center and the immediate area.
